The Toecutters's Axe

This amazing exhibit is the axe owned and used by actor Hugh Keays-Byrne during the filming of Mad Max.

A gift to Hugh from fellow actor and Macau Light Company foundation member Ralph Cotterill, the axe was a very effective meatworks carcass dismantler in its former life.

The axe blade itself, as seen in the pictures shown here, still bears evidence to its frenzied attack on the Chevy in that memorable scene.
