Japanese Movie Posters

Original Mad Max billboard in Tokyo, 1979

These three original Japanese movie posters were produced to promote Mad Max on its release in Japan on December 15th 1979. The two smaller posters (Hansai – B-2 posters) measured approximately 20x29 inches and were displayed in the foyers of many Japanese cinemas during the movie's successful engagement. The larger poster (Landscape B1 poster) measured approximately 29x40 inches and was also displayed, but only in selected cinemas, and was produced in very small quantities thus making it extremely rare.

Over the coming months in the Museum we will be featuring many other interesting Japanese promotional items for Mad Max, including lobby cards, flyers and still sets.
